About us
We’ve all been on bad dates.Too sweet. Too fake. Looked good at first, left you feeling… off.So we decided to upgrade dates — in every sense.
Cheeky Dates started in Nashville with our founder, Majlinn, a lifelong sweet tooth, an idea, and a belief that candy didn’t need to become so complicated.
Our company is called Sweetling — an old-fashioned English word once used as a term of endearment, like darling, and for something small and sweet.
We loved that it felt like a word from another time.
A time when sweets were simpler. When food felt a little more real, packaging had personality, and you didn’t need to turn the bag around to make sense of a list of ingredients you’d never heard of.
That became the idea behind Sweetling: taking a little inspiration from the good old days and bringing it into the way we snack now.
And there’s a little piece of our founder in the name, too. Majlinn grew up in Sweden, where “sötnos” is a term of endearment meaning sweetie — carrying that same feeling of something sweet and dear.
Different language, same sentiment. Sweetling just felt like home.
Then Sweetling found its first date.
We took nature’s original candy — dates — gave them the nostalgic candy flavors we grew up loving, added a little attitude, and Cheeky Dates was born.
What started as one girl experimenting with an idea quickly became a very Nashville kind of operation — friends taste-testing in the kitchen, packing orders, shooting content, handing out samples, and somehow getting recruited into building a candy company along the way.
Majlinn is the founder behind Sweetling and Cheeky Dates, but she isn’t building it alone. The friends who believed in the idea early have become our founding team, helping turn one idea into the brand you’re seeing today.
We’re still small. We’re still building. And a lot of what you see is happening in real time, right here in Nashville.
No giant food company. No corporate playbook.
Just a founder, a really good team, and a belief that maybe candy didn’t need reinventing quite as much as it needed remembering.
